‘Bee Wild’ Stage

Kicking off weekend no. 5 of the reimagined ‘Summer Series’ this Friday August 20th from 11am – 1.30pm, we are delighted to bring you another ‘Bee Wild at the Farmers’ Market’ out-door live pop-up performance stage, located in the beautiful grounds of the Heritage Centre, Carrick on Suir.

‘Bee Wild’ will feature live performances by local and visiting writers and musicians responding to this year’s festival theme, ‘Respecting and Healing Mother Earth’.

Curated by Margaret O’Brien from Writing Changes Lives in association with the Tudor Artisan Hub, participating writers include Margaret O’Brien, Eileen Acheson, Jenny Cox, Sheenagh Geoghegan, Karl Sandison, Theresa Jones, Lorna Grant, Mary O’Gorman, Bernie Condon and Mary Claire Heffernan.

And musicians include Breege Phelan, Gay Brazel, Kristof Roberts, Hannah Walsh, Maria O’Shea Enright. Sound by Pete MacGowan.

The performances will run from 11am to 1.30pm.

In the beautiful grounds of the Heritage Centre just off the Main Street, this is a great opportunity to bring beach chair or a blanket for the ground, grab a coffee from one of Carrick’s many cafés, pick up a sweet treat from one of the market stalls, relax and enjoy!

So please bring a blanket or beach chair, grab a coffee at a nearby café, pick up a sweet treat at the market, relax, chill out and enjoy!

This reimagined event, promises to entertain, distract, and give you pause for reflection.



Evening Theatre – ‘Lovers: Losers’ by Brian Friel

Tai Chi with David Corbett

Seán Healy Library Gardens | 10am & 11.15am | FREE

Three weeks of Tai Chi exercise classes for ADULTS in the Carrick-on-Suir Library Garden from Saturday August 7th to Saturday August 21st.

Tai Chi/Chi Kung exercises for relaxation, proper posture, exercises for balance, optimising blood circulation & nervous system and stimulating the body as well as calming the mind.

The instruction is carried out by a David Corbett, a certified Tai Chi Qigong instructor affiliated with the Irish Tai Chi and Health Qigong Association with over twenty years of training in Tai Chi and Chinese exercise for health.

The exercise sessions will run for 3 weeks with each class consisting of: warm-up and loosening exercises, gentle tai chi exercises and concluding with a guided relaxation and facial acupressure.

There are no materials required for this programme. Loose comfortable clothing is recommended.

You don’t have to attend all 3 Saturdays, just sign-up for whatever session you are free to do and have some fun!

Sionnach in Concert – CANCELLED

Announcement:

Unfortunately the live music concert ‘Sionnach’ in the Strand Theatre has been cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances beyond our control.

All customers who have booked have been notified, and will be issued a full refund including booking fee.

The renowned band Sionnach are hoping to be able to perform soon again in Carrick-on-Suir area once COVID-19 restrictions ease up further.

We thank you for supporting performing artists to help them get back up on their feet.

Art and Music ‘En Plein Air’ Along the Blueway

River Suir Blueway | 11am – 5pm | FREE

If the sun shines we welcome creatives from across the South East to take to the open air and CREATE along the majestic River Suir Blueway…paint, write a poem, a song, perform music, take photographs…all within the current Covid-19 guidelines.

As always be mindful of social distancing, walkers and cyclists, take care of each other and have some fun.

There are lovely coffee stops along the way, so grab a coffee and sweet treat, pick a spot and enjoy the breath-taking views along the Blueway.
