Due to the Pandemic and the need for Social Distancing, the 2021 competition will take place in the beautiful Castle Park from 2pm on Saturday August 28th.

Entry is limited to 10 acts, so get in quick to enter!

*PLEASE NOTE: We have a change to announce in the line-up for the upcoming live music concert in the Strand Theatre this Saturday night August 28, 2021. Unfortunately due to unforeseen circumstances, singer/songwriter Neill Bourke is unable to perform and in his place we welcome local renowned singer/songwriter/musician Gay Brazel.

On Saturday 28th, August 2021 in the Strand Theatre as part of the reimagined Clancy Brothers Festival Summer Series – we bring you ‘Keeping Summer’ a very special live music concert featuring these four incredibly talented singer/songwriters. You will be treated to an evening of new original folk indie, acoustic folk music, much of the material was written during the pandemic and will be heard for the first time live on this Night. Each of the musicians will fuse their new music with popular covers. Seating is very limited, so don’t delay, secure your seats to-day.

Aidan O’Callaghan and Graham Clancy, from Carrick on Suir have been performing together for over 20 years in various guises and under differing monikers, Aidan, ( Vocals/guitar ), and Graham, (Guitar/mandolin), certainly have experience on their side. Formerly of original group Amber Jean, they have played in many of the country’s top venues alongside some of its most established acts as well as receiving extensive airplay on both local and national airwaves. Back in 2019, before the Covid-19 pandemic, this superb duo wowed audiences at various intimate Art Events throughout the South East as they debuted their fantastic new original folk indie material blended with an assortment of covers.

Kate McDonald is a singer/songwriter originally from County Down, now living in South Tipperary. Kate has been playing guitar and singing for a number of years, playing solo and singing backing vocals for other musicians. Kate writes her own original material, (acoustic folk), and has supported John Spillane in Cleere’s bar Kilkenny. Kate has played in many venues across the South East and performed at the 2019 Clancy Brothers Festival on the Caravan of love stage.

The following guidelines must be adhered to while you are in attendance at any event within the Strand Theatre, including the Dick Meany Auditorium:

  • You must adhere to 2m social distancing at all times while on the premises.
  • Mask must be worn at all times; including during the performance.
  • Please follow all signage within the theatre for traffic flow; entrances and exits.
  • When entering the Auditorium you will be shown to your allocated seat by a Theatre Usher. Audience members must remain in their allocated seat that is indicated on their ticket for the duration of the performance.
  • At the conclusion of the performance; exiting the theatre will be coordinated by the ushers, on a row by row basis; starting at the back of the Auditorium. Please remain in your seats until you are called to exit the building.
  • Please note that due to Covid-19 restrictions, the Theatre Shop/ Christy’s Bar will not be open at this event.

At 10.30am you and your family can enjoy To the Woods and Waters Wild – a 2 hour Nature Walk from the riverbank at Dillon Bridge to Carrickbeg Hill and woodlands and back!

In the afternoon from 2.30 – 4pm, join us for Wild about Carrick Family Nature Day in the Bog Field, behind Glanbia, Carrickbeg.
