This year’s Clancy Brothers Festival has plenty of Youth and Children’s workshops for all tastes, including art and craft, drama, music, and animation.

There’s also a special Songwriting workshop with John Spillane for those over 16 years.

Make & Do with Maura Barrett & Bridge Water House Community – €3

Community Hall, Carrickbeg

Have fun and get creative with Flower Power Art and Crafts. Children must wear old clothes. Max 1O participants per workshop. 

Workshop 1: Ages: 4 – 7. Time 10.00 – 10.50 am

Workshop 2: Ages: 4 – 7. Time 11.00 – 11.50 am 


Drama Skills with Julie Anne Denby – €3 

Nano Nagle Chapel

Sparking children’s imaginations in creative ways. Fun, creative drama classes encouraging and developing a natural sense of play through drama games and exercises, using their own ideas and words. Children must wear comfortable clothes. Max 20 participants per workshop.

Workshop 1: Ages 5 – 7. Time: 10.00 – 11.30am

Workshop 2: Ages 8 – 11. Time: 12 – 1.30pm


Tin Whistle with Michael Perigoe – €3 

Business Centre, 2nd Floor Nano Nagle Resource Centre

Learn the tin whistle with Michael Perigoe, a local musician who has taught workshops and performed across Europe. Max 8 per workshop. Beginners must know the basic scale and play 1 tune. Bring your own tin whistle. 

Workshop Ages: 6 – 15. Time: 10.00 – 11.00am 


Piano Accordion with Caroline O’Brien – €3 

Business Centre, 2nd Floor, Nano Nagle Resource Centre

Improve your accordion playing. Caroline, a singer, musician and songwriter from Carrick on Suir, has been teaching and performing for a number of  years. Workshops suited to those who can play a minimum three tunes. Bring your own accordion. Max 10 per workshop. 

Intermediates. Workshop Ages: 7 – 12. Time: 11.00am – 12.00pm


Fiddle Playing with Lisa O’ Leary – €3 

Business Centre, 2nd Floor, Nano Nagle Resource Centre

Learn and improve your fiddle playing with Lisa, a fiddle player from Co. Wexford. A former student of the great Tomás Keegan, she has been teaching and performing for several years. Bring your own Fiddle. Max 9 per workshop. 

Intermediates. All Ages. Time: 12.00 – 1.00 pm


Animation Showcase with Limerick Institute of Technology – €3

Conference Room, Nano Nagle Resource Centre

Students from a degree in Animation will showcase the animated short films that they recently made. Workshop participants will learn about what really goes into making an animation film. Participants will get to try out some fun drawing and creative techniques. Suitable for students interested in Art and/or Animation. Max 12 per workshop. 

Workshop 1: Ages 8 – 12. Time: 11.00am – 12.30pm

Workshop 2: Ages 13 – 18. Time: 1.00pm – 2.30pm


Fun with Flower Power Face Painting with Laura Regan from €3 (No booking required)

Art Trail Pop-up Exhibition Space

Make-up Artist Laura will be offering face painting with a flower power, hippie, boho-chic theme during the Festival weekend. All Ages. 

Friday and Saturday: 10am – 6pm

Sunday: 12 -5pm and Monday: 12 – 3pm


Songwriting with John Spillane – €25 

Business Centre, 2nd Floor Nano Nagle Resource Centre

This workshop will guide participants to produce a finished song over the course of the workshop with encouraging feedback and practical advice offered throughout. Storytelling in songwriting is explored, along with how music can heighten the action and how the magical chemical reaction happens when words and music meet. Each participant will pick a theme and write a ballad which can be perfected later in their own time.

Workshop: Ages 16+. Time 12.30 – 2.00pm
